Province Post: A Transformative Affordable Housing Development for Provincetown
Provincetown is moving forward with one of its most significant housing initiatives in recent years: the Province Post Housing Development at 3 Jerome Smith Road. Designed to help address the town’s long-standing shortage of year-round rentals and the high barriers to homeownership, this project represents a major step toward creating stability and opportunity for residents who power Provincetown’s economy and culture.
Construction began in 2024 and continues to advance steadily moving toward the projected completion in 2026. At a time when housing costs are rising and seasonal pressures remain high, Province Post represents a thoughtful, long-term investment in strengthening and supporting the town’s year-round community.
Why Provincetown Needs This Development
Provincetown’s housing challenges are well documented, low year-round availability, elevated home prices, and a strong seasonal rental market all contribute to an imbalance that affects essential workers and longtime residents.
The Province Post development brings 65 new rental units, including 61 affordable homes, directly addressing this long-standing shortage.
A Range of Homes to Serve the Community
One of the most important aspects of Province Post is the variety of units tailored to different household types:
18 studio apartments
32 one-bedroom units
10 two-bedroom units
5 three-bedroom units
