Provincetown Carnival returns August 15-22, 2026, bringing a full week of energy, creativity, and celebration to the Outer Cape. First launched in 1978 by the Provincetown Business Guild, this iconic festival has grown into one of the most anticipated events of the summer, drawing thousands of visitors from around the world.
Each year’s theme inspires elaborate costumes, themed parties, and immersive events and in 2026, “Deep Sea Disco” sets the stage for a vibrant, ocean-inspired celebration filled with music, movement, and bold self-expression.
Throughout the week, Provincetown transforms into a dynamic festival destination, with daily events ranging from dance parties and performances to costume contests and community gatherings.
The highlight of the week is the legendary Carnival Parade on Thursday, August 20 at 3:00pm, when thousands line Commercial Street to watch colorful floats and costumed participants make their way through town. The parade begins near the Harbor Hotel and travels the full length of Commercial Street, creating an unforgettable spectacle that captures the spirit of Provincetown.
