September 25-27, 2026 | Provincetown Public Library
The 2026 Provincetown Book Festival returns September 25-27 for three days celebrating books, writers, ideas, and Provincetown’s longstanding literary tradition. Now in its 10th year, the festival brings acclaimed authors, local writers, readers, and book lovers together for a weekend of readings, interviews, conversations, poetry, and special programs.
All festival programs take place at the Provincetown Public Library, 356 Commercial Street, and are free and open to the public. Advance reservations are strongly recommended for individual programs.
Whether you live in Provincetown or are planning a September visit, the Book Festival offers an opportunity to experience another side of the town’s creative community while hearing directly from an impressive group of contemporary writers.
About the Provincetown Book Festival
The Provincetown Book Festival is an annual literary celebration presented by the Provincetown Public Library. Created in 2016 as an extension of the Rose Dorothea Award, the festival supports Provincetown’s culture of books, reading, writing, and conversation.
Programs feature writers working across fiction, nonfiction, poetry, plays, memoir, history, and other forms. Rather than focusing only on traditional readings, the festival places an emphasis on conversations between authors, interviews, audience discussion, and collaborative programs.
The festival also reflects Provincetown’s broader artistic heritage. For generations, writers, artists, playwrights, and other creative people have been drawn to the Outer Cape, making a literary festival a natural part of Provincetown’s cultural calendar.
