In 2026, October brings several of Provincetown’s signature fall events, beginning with Mates Leather Weekend and the PAAM Pier Party and continuing with Women’s Week, TransWeek, Serenity by the Sea, and Spooky Bear & Halloween Weekend.

Whether you’re planning an October getaway or already live on the Outer Cape, here’s a look at some of the biggest Provincetown events happening in October 2026.

Mates Leather Weekend Provincetown

October 1-5, 2026

October starts with Mates Leather Weekend Provincetown, returning October 1-5 for its 29th year. Commonly called MLW, the five-day gathering brings the leather, rubber, uniform, and fetish communities together for a combination of social events, nightlife, shopping, contests, dining, and opportunities to connect with friends old and new.

The 2026 schedule includes gatherings throughout Provincetown, including the Leather Market at the Boatslip, the annual First Mate Contest, parties, a cookout and tattoo contest, free health screening and testing, and the closing Afterglow Brunch. The official schedule is designed to leave attendees time between events to explore town, making MLW a good opportunity to combine the weekend with restaurants, shopping, the beach, and an October walk along Commercial Street.

A portion of Event Pass proceeds also benefits the AIDS Support Group of Cape Cod, adding a charitable component to a weekend that has become a longstanding part of Provincetown’s fall calendar.

The PAAM Pier Party

October 3, 2026 | 5:00–10:00 PM

Art and Provincetown’s waterfront come together on Saturday, October 3, for The PAAM Pier Party, the Provincetown Art Association and Museum’s annual fall celebration and fundraiser.

Held at Provincetown Marina on the Ryder Street Extension, the 2026 Pier Party features the theme Fishnets + Finery. The evening begins with a waterfront cocktail reception at sunset and continues with a seated dinner, desserts, and dancing at the after-party. This year’s event honors PAAM legends Chris McCarthy and Steven Roderick along with artists Naya Bricher and Derek Macara.

The Pier Party is more than an evening out on the waterfront. It supports PAAM, an institution that has played an important role in Provincetown’s artistic community for more than a century. For visitors interested in Ptown’s art, history, and cultural scene, it offers a very different October experience from the month’s larger theme weeks and nightlife-focused events.

Provincetown Women’s Week

October 12-18, 2026 | Events Begin October 9

One of the biggest events of the month is Provincetown Women’s Week, officially taking place October 12-18, with early programming beginning Friday, October 9.

Women’s Week has been part of Provincetown’s fall calendar for more than four decades and has grown into a major celebration of women, LGBTQ+ culture, entertainment, literature, arts, and community. More than 300 individual events are expected in 2026, giving visitors an enormous range of options throughout the week.

Programming includes comedy, live music, theater, films, author events, workshops, dances, wellness activities, outdoor excursions, social gatherings, and opportunities specifically designed for singles and solo travelers. The 2026 entertainment lineup includes performers such as Judy Gold, Cris Williamson, Poppy Champlin, Suzanne Westenhoefer, Suede, Melissa Ferrick, BETTY, Zoë Lewis, Vickie Shaw, and others.

Women’s Week also gives visitors plenty of reasons to explore Provincetown outside the scheduled events. October can be a beautiful time to walk Commercial Street, visit galleries, head to the beach, go whale watching, or simply enjoy a long dinner without the pace of peak summer.

Provincetown TransWeek

October 18-25, 2026

As Women’s Week comes to a close, another longstanding Provincetown tradition begins. Provincetown TransWeek takes place October 18–25, bringing the transgender and gender-diverse community together for a week of education, entertainment, meals, social events, and connection.

Formerly known as Fantasia Fair, the gathering dates back to 1975 and is one of Provincetown’s longest-running annual LGBTQ+ events. Unlike a traditional conference contained within a single hotel, TransWeek programming takes place at venues around town, allowing Provincetown itself to become part of the experience.

The week combines workshops and educational sessions with social gatherings and entertainment. Programming is also available for spouses, partners, family members, friends, and allies. Longstanding TransWeek traditions include community meals, keynote presentations, Open Mic Night, the Follies, and the Gala Awards Banquet.

Because events take place around central Provincetown, attendees can easily combine the week’s programming with restaurants, shops, galleries, and the waterfront.

Serenity by the Sea

October 22-25, 2026

From October 22-25, Serenity by the Sea returns for its 39th year in Provincetown.

Also known as the Provincetown Roundup, Serenity by the Sea is a four-day recovery gathering centered around fellowship, recovery, unity, and service. The weekend welcomes members of the LGBTQ+ recovery community, friends, and others in recovery for meetings, workshops, activities, and opportunities to connect.

The Provincetown Inn serves as the primary venue, with programming taking place throughout the weekend. The schedule includes 12-Step meetings, recovery-focused workshops, fellowship, and community activities. Just as important for many attendees is the opportunity to spend time together outside formal programming, whether that means walking along the waterfront, sharing a meal, or reconnecting with friends.

The setting makes Serenity by the Sea a particularly distinctive Provincetown event. Late October offers a quieter version of town than visitors encounter during the height of summer, providing a fitting backdrop for a weekend centered on connection, personal growth, and recovery.

Provincetown Spooky Bear & Halloween Weekend

October 29-November 1, 2026

October ends with one of Provincetown’s most colorful fall weekends. Spooky Bear & Halloween Weekend runs Thursday, October 29 through Sunday, November 1, combining Ptown’s broader Halloween festivities with the annual Spooky Bear celebration.

Hosted by the Northeast Ursamen, Spooky Bear brings Bears, Cubs, Chubs, Admirers, and the wider community together for Halloween parties, costume events, dancing, nightlife, and casual social gatherings. At the same time, venues and organizations around town host their own Halloween events, turning much of central Provincetown into one big celebration.

Costumes are a major part of the experience, and Commercial Street becomes part of the show as visitors make their way between parties, performances, restaurants, bars, and other events. The Provincetown Business Guild is promoting the 2026 weekend for October 29–November 1, while Northeast Ursamen notes that its complete Spooky Bear schedule and ticket links are still being finalized.

That makes this one October weekend worth checking again as your trip gets closer, since additional parties and events may be announced.
